Mitti Attar (also known as "Earth Attar" or "Scent of Rain") is a traditional Indian perfume distilled from baked clay and base oils like sandalwood. It captures the nostalgic and grounding aroma of freshly wet earth after the first rain—a scent known in India as petrichor.

🌿 How Mitti Attar Is Made (Traditional Kannauj Process)

  1. Clay Selection:

    • Fine, clean, mineral-rich clay is collected from riverbeds or fields.

    • The clay is sun-dried and then baked into small discs or shards.

  2. Distillation (Deg & Bhapka system):

    • The clay is placed in a traditional copper still (deg).

    • Water is added, and the mixture is slowly heated using a wood fire.

    • The steam carries the volatile earthy compounds into the bhapka (receiver), which contains sandalwood oil.

  3. Aging:

    • The distillate (sandalwood oil infused with the essence of earth) is aged for several weeks to enhance depth and harmony.

  4. Final Product:

    • A golden to light amber oil with a subtle, soft, earthy aroma.

    • Completely natural, with no alcohol or synthetic additives.
